Battle of the Sounds Season 4: A Triumphant Finale to “Fight the Vice, Not the Vibe”

The curtains have closed on Battle of the Sounds: Season 4, and what a grand finale it was! Held on November 23, 2024, the closing ceremony celebrated the culmination of weeks of electrifying performances, fierce competition, and unwavering community spirit. This season’s theme, “Fight the Vice, Not the Vibe,” achieved its mission to inspire Lagos youth to channel their energy into positive, creative pursuits through music.

The event’s climax was the award presentation, where outstanding talents were recognized for their incredible artistry and dedication. Stanley Okezie (Linezy) emerged as the Best Warrior, winning N500,000 for his exceptional performances in the Reggae and Afrobeats categories. Close behind, Muhammad Jubril (Mjay) secured the 2nd Best Warrior title, earning N250,000 for his impactful contributions in the Rap category. Austin Oletu (Blue Boy) took home N100,000 as the 3rd Best Warrior, excelling in the Reggae category. Additionally, Rock Nation—comprised of Linezy, Raphele (Raphael Richard), and Boy Rico (Kehinde Fuwa)—clinched the Overall Best Nation award, walking away with N150,000.

Special Awards and Incentives

Individual category prizes of N20,000 were also awarded to Nosiru Talabi (Lucky Vibe) for Best in Rap, Darnell Oletu (Komelinho) for Best in Afrobeats, and Austin Oletu (Blue Boy) for Best in Reggae. Beyond monetary rewards, artists received free music video shoots by Lumiere Multimedia and studio sessions facilitated by Festac Mag, Indomix, and other collaborators. These incentives, as announced by Technical Director Femi Adeoye, aim to empower these talents for the next stage of their careers.

A Star-Studded Evening

The closing ceremony saw attendance from industry heavyweights, including ace producer Indomix, award-winning artist GT da Guitarman, and Oga Jojo of PerfPerf Sounds. Together with the event convener, Seun Ayeni GGG, they presented prizes to the deserving winners as the dynamic VJ Priceless kept the energy alive, calling awardees to the stage.

A Legacy of Impact

More than just a competition, Battle of the Sounds reinforced its commitment to youth empowerment and community building. The theme, “Fight the Vice, Not the Vibe,” resonated deeply as young talents showcased their passion for music while building camaraderie and representing their neighborhoods with pride.

The event’s producer, Deji Oladipupo, announced that post-production of this year’s show is underway, with plans to broadcast the series on TVC Entertainment and Nigezie in the coming month. As the lights dim on this season, one thing is clear: the Battle of the Sounds is not just about finding winners—it’s about transforming lives, inspiring communities, and shaping the future of music in Lagos.
