On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, the National President of the Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA), Mrs. Kikelomo Adewale Adeniyi (FPMC), officially commissioned the COWA office for the PTML chapter and presented equipment for skills empowerment at a well-organized and well-attended event.
In her commissioning speech, Mrs. Adeniyi praised the initiative, describing it as a significant step towards empowering association members, the widows of deceased customs officers, and others through entrepreneurship. She emphasized that COWA’s programs are designed to positively impact both the home front and society, providing triple benefits of social, economic, and emotional support to members, their immediate families, and the broader community.
“As wives of customs officers, we recognize our vital role as pillars of support for our husbands and family members,” she stated. Mrs. Adeniyi encouraged the wives of customs officers to foster a hospitable home environment to enhance their spouses’ productivity at work.
During the event, she inspected various food, drink, and cosmetic products created by the trainees at the center and presented sewing machines, certificates, and food items to the trainees and widows.
Mrs. Adeniyi also announced that COWA is undergoing a rebranding process aimed at adding more value to the lives of its stakeholders, urging potential members to join the association.
Earlier in the event, Mrs. Maureen Daniyan, Chairman of the PTML Chapter of COWA, expressed her gratitude to Mrs. Adeniyi for her exceptional leadership. She highlighted that COWA and the PTML Area Command are dedicated to executing the association’s empowerment programs and services for the betterment of humanity.
Mrs. Daniyan remarked that the programs are designed to create a positive impact at home and within society, commending the wives of customs officers for their unwavering support of their husbands and families. “Our focus on catering, soap making, and other vocations marks the first step of our venture. We hope to expand our efforts as we receive strength from God. We have also procured essential equipment as capital for the trainees, which we believe will significantly aid the beneficiaries in achieving self-reliance and economic independence.
“She urged all COWA members to participate in these training programs to become self-reliant, hardworking, and productive entrepreneurs. “This is just the beginning of many commendable programs we have planned,” she added.
Mrs. Daniyan concluded by expressing her heartfelt appreciation to the PTML management and staff, her supportive PTML COWA executives, and the members for their collaboration, stating that their collective efforts have been crucial to the association’s success. “I also extend my gratitude to my husband, Compt. TM Daniyan, whose motivation and support have been invaluable in making these empowerment programs a success,” she said.
