The Customs Area Controller of the Apapa Area Command, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, announced that on June 14, 2024, the command achieved a significant milestone by collecting ₦17,903,312,598 in revenue, the highest amount since its establishment.

During a press briefing, Comptroller Olomu described this achievement as the beginning of many more successful revenue collections, trade facilitation, and anti-smuggling efforts that the command will undertake in fulfilling its statutory duties.

Having assumed office as the Area Controller of the nation’s primary port command just a month ago, Olomu expressed his determination to surpass expectations and ensure that the officers and staff under his supervision maintain and even exceed their current level of performance.

He expressed particular satisfaction that this remarkable collection occurred during the first-anniversary celebration of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR. Olomu acknowledged Adeniyi’s inspiring and motivating leadership, which greatly contributed to the command’s accomplishments thus far.

Comptroller Olomu urged all port users to adhere to the principles and guidelines of lawful operations, including compliance with import and export regulations, timely and accurate payment of duties, and active participation in activities that serve the national interest.
