Comptroller Daniyan Assumes Leadership at PTML, Pledges to Enhance Revenue Collection and Trade Facilitation

Inside Watch Africa was present at the handing over and taking ceremony of the Port Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Area Command on Friday, May 17th, 2024.

Following the promotion of the former CAC, Saidu Abba Yusuf, to the rank of Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) of Customs Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi has appointed Comptroller Tenny Mankini Daniyan as the new Customs Area Controller for the PTML Command.

During the ceremony, Comptroller Daniyan expressed his commitment to fully implementing the provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act (NCSA) 2023, with a focus on maximizing revenue collection and enhancing trade facilitation.

Comptroller Daniyan addressed a gathering of officers and stakeholders, stating that the command would strengthen strategies to prevent revenue leakages in order to achieve the government’s economic goals through the NCS.

He also promised to leverage his extensive experience and strong relationships built during his time as Deputy Comptroller (DC) in charge of revenue at PTML.

In terms of trade facilitation, Comptroller Daniyan urged stakeholders to comply by making honest declarations and paying their duties on time, in order to build a reputation for integrity and take advantage of the opportunities provided by the CGC.

In line with the Comptroller General of Customs’ policies, Comptroller Daniyan pledged to enhance customs community relations through regular stakeholder engagements and promote programs such as the Time Release Study (TRS).

He also emphasized the command’s commitment to guiding compliant stakeholders towards obtaining the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status and benefiting from the Advanced Ruling scheme implemented by the CGC.

ACG Yusuf expressed his gratitude to the CGC for his exemplary leadership and described Comptroller Daniyan as a highly competent officer who would elevate the command in all areas. He expressed confidence that Daniyan would surpass the achievements made under his own tenure.

ACG Yusuf also called for increased cooperation from importers, licensed customs agents, freight forwarders, and the management of Grimaldi with the new CAC.

ACG Yusuf has assumed office in the Human Resources Department of the NCS Headquarters.

As an experienced customs officer, Comptroller Daniyan has served in various positions within the service and has undergone training as an instructor/lecturer in the service training institution.

He has worked in Sokoto, Kebbi, Apapa, Borno/Yobe, and has served in the Tariff and Trade Department of the NCS Headquarters. He has also held positions at the Murtala Mohammed Airport Command (MMAC), Port Harcourt Area II Command, the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) in Zone B, and FOU Zone A.

Additionally, he has held positions as Controller ICT at Zone A headquarters and Controller Modernisation in Abuja. His most recent position before being appointed as Controller PTML Command was at the Post Clearance Audit seat of MMAC.

Comptroller Daniyan holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture from Bendel State University (now Ambrose Alli University), Ekpoma, Edo State. He also holds a Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and another Masters in Facilities Management from the University of Lagos, Akoka.

He has undergone training in valuation, classification, price search, document preparation, and has participated in Operation Haske Biu at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji Kaduna State.

Comptroller Daniyan has also contributed to the development of younger officers by serving as an instructor for new customs recruits in multiple years.

He is a member of the Nigeria Institute of Architects (MNIA), married with children, and enjoys playing football, chess, and golf.
