The Port Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML), Area Command, Lagos, now has a new Area Controller. He is Comptroller Saidu Abba Yusuf, who took over on Monday, June 5, 2023 as the Area Controller.
Giving a brief remarks at the handover ceremony held at the command, Comptroller Yusuf assures officers and stakeholders that the due diligence which was clearly upheld by his predecessor, Comptroller Ali Ibrahim will be sustained.
While commending Comptroller Ibrahim for setting up mechanisms that have clearly helped to increase revenue collection, trade facilitation and strict enforcement in the Area Command, he urged all port users operating in PTML to make compliance a lifestyle.
According to Yusuf, compliance saves clearance time, improves revenue collection and builds up the integrity rating of traders towards enjoying fast-track benefit and possible migration to the status of Authorised Economic Operator (AEO).
The new CAC added that voluntary compliance creates a win-win situation for everyone as it prevents losses that result from seizures, demand notices and penalties which come in the course of enforcement.
Comptroller Yusuf assured the PTML management, bonded terminal operators, shipping companies, importers, exporters, freight forwarders and haulage operators of an open-door policy to sustain and improve on the template of trade facilitation
He said the command will rigorously implement all government policies including those that encourage ease of doing business without compromising national security and government revenue.
Inside Watch Africa (IWA) reporter, who covered the ceremony, reports that the former CAC had earlier introduced Comptroller Yusuf to senior officers and some stakeholders while imploring them to extend maximum cooperation to the new Controller.
